Protective Coating for Newly Installed Leadwork

EVERBUILD® Lead Mate® Patination Oil is specially formulated to provide a protective coating for newly installed leadwork. It helps prevent white carbonate staining that can affect new lead and surrounding tiles, brickwork, and stonework. Just one coat ensures a uniform, attractive appearance and assists in the natural ageing process of the lead.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Stain Prevention: Prevents white carbonate staining on lead and adjacent surfaces.
  • Enhanced Appearance: Provides a uniform, attractive finish to new lead installations.
  • Natural Ageing Assistance: Aids in the formation of the lead’s natural patina.
  • Easy Application: Supplied in a no-spill pack for clean and straightforward use.

Ideal For

  • Newly installed leadwork, especially areas exposed to water runoff.
  • Lead flashing, roofing, and cladding applications.

Application Instructions

  1. Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust and contaminants. Shake the container well before use.
  2. Application: Using a soft, absorbent cloth, apply the oil evenly, working horizontally from the top and maintaining a wet edge at all times. Do not apply in a circular motion, as this may leave marks on the lead.
  3. Coverage: Only one coat is required. Before clipping, apply to the underside of the lead up to approximately 50mm from the edge. Ensure all areas, including clips and trims, are coated.
  4. Timing: Apply as soon as possible after installation, at the end of each working day, or before expected rain.

Limitations

  • Do not allow the product to come into contact with bitumen or polycarbonate sheets.
  • Always test on a small, inconspicuous area before full application.
  • Ensure application is carried out in a well-ventilated area while wearing appropriate protective gloves.

Cleaning of Tools

Clean tools and equipment with white spirit immediately after use. Cured material must be removed mechanically.
