EVERBUILD® Lead Mate® Patination Oil is specially formulated to provide a protective coating for newly installed leadwork. It helps prevent white carbonate staining that can affect new lead and surrounding tiles, brickwork, and stonework. Just one coat ensures a uniform, attractive appearance and assists in the natural ageing process of the lead.

Product Details
- Colour: Brown / Yellow liquid
- Packaging: Available in 500ml and 1L self-gauging plastic bottles
- Coverage: Approximately 55–65 m² per litre
- Density: ~0.8 g/cm³
- Flash Point: 38°C
- Boiling Point: 152°C
- Working Temperature: Apply between 5°C and 35°C (below flash point)
- Shelf Life: 24 months from date of manufacture when stored as directed
- Storage Conditions: Store in cool, dry conditions between +5°C and +30°C. Ensure good ventilation.
Application Instructions
- Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust and contaminants. Shake the container well before use.
- Application: Using a soft, absorbent cloth, apply the oil evenly, working horizontally from the top and maintaining a wet edge at all times. Do not apply in a circular motion, as this may leave marks on the lead.
- Coverage: Only one coat is required. Before clipping, apply to the underside of the lead up to approximately 50mm from the edge. Ensure all areas, including clips and trims, are coated.
- Timing: Apply as soon as possible after installation, at the end of each working day, or before expected rain.
Limitations
- Do not allow the product to come into contact with bitumen or polycarbonate sheets.
- Always test on a small, inconspicuous area before full application.
- Ensure application is carried out in a well-ventilated area while wearing appropriate protective gloves.
Cleaning of Tools
Clean tools and equipment with white spirit immediately after use. Cured material must be removed mechanically.
