Timber & Sheet Materials for Construction and Joinery
How to Choose the Right Sheet Material for Your Project
Store sheet materials flat on a level surface with all sheets fully supported. Sheets stored on edge or unsupported at the centre bow over time, making them difficult to use and potentially unusable for precision joinery work.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between OSB and plywood?
Plywood is made from thin wood veneers glued with the grain alternating — this gives consistent strength in all directions. OSB (oriented strand board) uses compressed strands in oriented layers — cheaper than plywood and sufficient for structural sheathing and flooring but not as dimensionally stable in wet conditions.
What grade plywood do I need for outdoor use?
For outdoor use, specify WBP (Weather and Boil Proof) bonded plywood, also described as Exterior Grade. Marine plywood is WBP bonded with higher-quality veneers and fewer voids — required for boat building and high-performance applications.
Can I order cut sheet materials?
Our standard sheets are supplied at full sheet size. Contact us for cut-to-size options or if you need non-standard dimensions in quantity.
