Timber screws for trade

Professional-grade timber screws with Torx drive for high torque and zero cam-out under power driving. Self-drilling tips eliminate the need for pilot holes in most softwoods. Zinc yellow passivated for corrosion resistance. Available in assorted organiser kits (1,000 pieces) and individual trade boxes.

How to choose the right timber screw

Multi-purpose Torx woodscrews for general timber-to-timber fixing — battens, frames, trim and joinery. Timber-to-steel screws with winged CSK for fixing timber to steel lintels, purlins or RSJs — self-drills through steel without pre-drilling. Assorted organiser kits provide mixed sizes in a partitioned case for workshop or van stock. For hardwoods (oak, ash) or very close to edges, a pilot hole prevents splitting.
Trade Tip

Trade tip: For hardwood window and door frames, choose a self-tapping screw with a fine thread pitch. Coarse softwood threads can strip in hardwood, reducing pull-out strength. Pre-drilling at 70% of the screw shank diameter gives a cleaner drive and better holding power.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to pre-drill?

Not in most softwoods — the self-drilling tip cuts its own thread cleanly. For hardwoods (oak, ash) or very close to the edge of a workpiece, a pilot hole prevents splitting.

What is the difference between Torx and Pozi drive?

Torx (star-shaped) provides higher torque transfer and virtually eliminates cam-out, making it better for power driving long screws. Pozi (cross-head) is more common but more prone to cam-out under high torque.

What coating should I choose?

Zinc yellow (ZY) is suitable for indoor and sheltered outdoor use. For fully exposed outdoor fixings (decking, fencing), choose stainless steel or an outdoor-rated coating.
