Head & Face Protection for Site Safety
How to Select Head and Face Protection
Inspect hard hats before every shift. Any hat that has sustained a significant impact should be replaced immediately even if there is no visible crack — internal microfractures can compromise the shell without showing externally.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a hard hat last?
Most manufacturers recommend replacing hard hats every 2–5 years regardless of appearance. UV exposure, chemical contact, and impact (even if no visible damage) degrade the shell. Check the manufacturing date on the inside — many hats have a 5-year service limit from manufacture.
What class of hard hat do I need for electrical work?
For electrical work involving live systems up to 1000V AC, a Class E (Electrical) rated hard hat is required. Standard EN 397 hats do not provide electrical insulation.
Can safety goggles be worn over prescription glasses?
Yes — look for OTG (over-the-glasses) rated goggles that have a wider frame profile to accommodate prescription eyewear underneath.
