Secure Fixings for Cavity Drain and Damp-Proofing Membranes

Safeguard Dryzone Fixing Plugs are high-quality, impact-resistant plugs designed for the secure installation of cavity drainage and damp-proofing membranes to walls and other solid substrates. Suitable for use with Dryzone membranes and other mesh or studded membrane systems, these plugs ensure long-term mechanical stability while preventing moisture ingress at the fixing point.

Each plug is supplied with an integrated sealing washer, providing a watertight barrier once the plug is driven into the pre-drilled hole. The plugs can also be used to fix battens or tracking systems in internal waterproofing setups, making them an essential component of any damp-proofing or basement tanking project.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Watertight Seal: Integrated rubber washer prevents moisture ingress around the fixing point.
  • Compatible with Membranes: Designed for use with Safeguard and other cavity drain or studded membranes.
  • Strong Mechanical Fixing: Ribbed shaft design ensures firm hold in brick, concrete, and block substrates.
  • Versatile Use: Accepts screws for attaching battens, tracking systems, or insulation boards.
  • Quick Installation: Simple hammer-in design for fast and reliable application.

Product Details

  • Plug Length: Typically 60mm
  • Plug Diameter: 10mm–12mm (varies by model)
  • Material: High-grade plastic with sealing washer
  • Applications: Internal wall membrane systems, basement waterproofing, batten fixing
  • Substrates: Brick, concrete, stone, and block

Application Instructions

  1. Drill Holes: Use a masonry drill bit (usually 8–10mm) to create holes at the recommended spacing (typically 250mm centres).
  2. Insert Plug: Position the membrane and drive the plug through the membrane into the pre-drilled hole.
  3. Seal & Secure: Ensure the integrated washer is compressed against the membrane for a tight seal.
  4. Optional Fixings: Insert screws into the central recess to attach battens or other materials if required.

Limitations

  • Not suitable for use on loose or soft substrates without additional anchoring methods.
  • Ensure proper drilling depth and alignment for secure fixing and sealing.

Health & Safety

Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves during installation. Follow membrane system manufacturer’s guidance for spacing and installation technique.
