Safety boots for installers
How to choose the right boot
Safety tip: EN ISO 20345 S1P-rated safety boots are the minimum standard for glass installation sites. For outdoor or wet-site working, upgrade to S3 waterproof boots or safety wellingtons. Always check your site RAMS before specifying footwear for your crew.
Frequently Asked Questions
What safety rating do I need?
Most sites require S3 (toe cap, anti-penetration midsole, water-resistant, anti-slip). For general window installation without heavy site requirements, S1P is sufficient. Check your site PPE requirements.
Steel toe or composite toe?
Steel offers maximum protection and is the traditional choice. Composite is lighter, doesn't conduct cold, and passes metal detectors — useful on secure sites. Both meet the same EN ISO 20345 impact standard.
How often should I replace safety boots?
Replace when sole tread is worn smooth, toe cap exposed, or waterproofing failed. For daily site use, expect 6-12 months. Rotating two pairs extends the life of both.
