Head & Face Protection for Site Safety

Our head and face protection range covers hard hats, safety helmets, bump caps, safety goggles, face shields, ear defenders, and dust masks. All products meet current UK and European safety standards including EN 397 (industrial helmets), EN 166 (eye protection), and EN 352 (hearing protection). Designed for construction, manufacturing, woodworking, and general industrial environments where head, eye, and hearing hazards are present. Full-face options combine eye and respiratory protection for higher-risk tasks.

How to Select Head and Face Protection

Identify the specific hazard before selecting PPE. For overhead impact risk, EN 397 hard hats are the minimum requirement on most construction sites. For electrical work, select a hat rated for electrical insulation (Class E). Bump caps protect against low-clearance lacerations but do not replace hard hats where impact risk exists. For eye protection, match lens type to hazard: clear lenses for dust, tinted for UV, chemical splash rated for liquid hazards. For hearing protection, calculate required attenuation from measured noise levels — SNR value should reduce exposure to below 85dB.
Trade Tip

Inspect hard hats before every shift. Any hat that has sustained a significant impact should be replaced immediately even if there is no visible crack — internal microfractures can compromise the shell without showing externally.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a hard hat last?

Most manufacturers recommend replacing hard hats every 2–5 years regardless of appearance. UV exposure, chemical contact, and impact (even if no visible damage) degrade the shell. Check the manufacturing date on the inside — many hats have a 5-year service limit from manufacture.

What class of hard hat do I need for electrical work?

For electrical work involving live systems up to 1000V AC, a Class E (Electrical) rated hard hat is required. Standard EN 397 hats do not provide electrical insulation.

Can safety goggles be worn over prescription glasses?

Yes — look for OTG (over-the-glasses) rated goggles that have a wider frame profile to accommodate prescription eyewear underneath.
